A Little Fun Outside

So Jason and I just got a puppy almost 2 months ago, and I think it is worse than taking care of a baby. I worked at a daycare for awhile taking care of 5 toddlers about 1 1/2 years old, and I think I would rather choose that ravenous group of sticky whirlwinds than a puppy sometimes.

But then she makes that puppy face and I forget about all the accidents and chewing and nipping and barking and jumping up.

Not the most focused picture, but a happy pup!

Besides, when we want to give her a good walk, sometimes we take her downtown and get some ice cream for ourselves to get a double whammy. And then we get to see things like this:

Someday, when we have a house, I will consider painting our fence like that and making a creepy lawn ornament that looks like the bald man...or at least I will talk about doing that instead of actually working up the courage to. Maybe I'll just end up making a drawing like that placing a hidden creep in the yard somewhere like a real Peeping Tom.

Deja VU!

So I was browsing the interwebs today and saw this DIY Chevron Box on the Craftzine Blog:

I kind of broke out in a smile, because I actually made a very similar project (just more recycle-y) a few months ago! It was kind of nice to know that I do have some good ideas :)

This is the box I made:

So, pretty similar, but this is what I did to make mine.

I first started out with a shoebox, because I'm cheap and it was already kind of white. Instead of painting it with a brush, I used my trusty spray paint, because it's quicker and I find it dries faster. And since I didn't really have a good silver paint colour, and I had some furnace tape laying around, I used that to make the chevron pattern. As you can see, it's not very pro, since the pattern doesn't match up on the top, but I just used that to my advantage by colouring in some sweet blue designs for some pop and interest.

So, if anyone wants to know an easier way to make the silver chevron pattern, use furnace tape from the hardware section. Although, I suppose you could find some copper tape for making stained glass, or zebra duct tape...whatever tape you like! Just make sure to measure it out properly before sticking down the tape if you want a true chevron, learn from my mistake.

It Begins...

A little over a year ago, I married my best friend.

Since then, we have accumulated three cats (one has passed on to kitty heaven and is covering his stinks in the letterbox in the sky), and one young pup, along with a condo, a new job, new families, and soon, a nephew!

So...partly for me and partly for others who are interested, I've decided to start a blog. While it definitely will take a bit to get the kinks worked out and some interesting material, bear with me. Because we dress up cats, go places sometimes, see things, and try things. Sometimes successfully and sometimes not. But whatever I succeed with, will hopefully be helpful to someone and whatever isn't will at least be entertaining.

And with that note, let the festivities begin!

Also, here is one of my cats:
