Deja VU!

So I was browsing the interwebs today and saw this DIY Chevron Box on the Craftzine Blog:

I kind of broke out in a smile, because I actually made a very similar project (just more recycle-y) a few months ago! It was kind of nice to know that I do have some good ideas :)

This is the box I made:

So, pretty similar, but this is what I did to make mine.

I first started out with a shoebox, because I'm cheap and it was already kind of white. Instead of painting it with a brush, I used my trusty spray paint, because it's quicker and I find it dries faster. And since I didn't really have a good silver paint colour, and I had some furnace tape laying around, I used that to make the chevron pattern. As you can see, it's not very pro, since the pattern doesn't match up on the top, but I just used that to my advantage by colouring in some sweet blue designs for some pop and interest.

So, if anyone wants to know an easier way to make the silver chevron pattern, use furnace tape from the hardware section. Although, I suppose you could find some copper tape for making stained glass, or zebra duct tape...whatever tape you like! Just make sure to measure it out properly before sticking down the tape if you want a true chevron, learn from my mistake.
